Seekonk Dance Center




Owner/Director Shannon Ashton has been teaching dance for more than 20 yrs. She is a member of the Dance Teachers' Club of Boston and has been tested and certified to teach dance. She has danced and performed at various competitions, workshops, and showcases for over 30 yrs. Ms. Shannon continues to study dance with various choreographers through D.T.C.B..  Ms. Shannon's students have won various awards in competitions for her choreography throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Ms. Shannon has taught master classes for the State Ballet of Rhode Island summer intensive program and has previously directed dance programs for the Hockomock YMCA's. Ms. Shannon also holds a certification in early childhood.

Jo-Ann Donnelly  Ms. Jo-Ann has owned and operated her own performing arts dance studio for 30 years. She is a 25 year member of the Dance Teachers' Club of Boston and is certified to teach dance. She has a B.A. degree in elementary education from the University of Rhode Island ,and is now retired from her fourth grade teaching position. Ms. Jo-Ann has recently become a certified Zumba instructor.  Ms. Jo-Ann has proudly joined the staff here, at Seekonk Dance Center, where she enjoys teaching the advanced tap class, the "Sophisticated Ladies", and  the adult tap and fitness classes for her daughter; Ms. Shannon!! She also enjoys teaching zumba for the Barrington Community School.  Ms. Jo-Ann continues to study the art of "Ballroom" dance, as well as taking class with national instructors at D.T.C.B. She is also a past member of R.I.'s Dance Alliance.

Ashley Andries Ms. Ashley began dancing at the age of five and received her early ballet training form Eastern Connecticut Ballet.  She attended several summer programs including Boston Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, as well as performing in the Youth America Grand Prix competition for two years.  Ms. Ashley completed her last three years of schooling with Festival Ballet Providence and shortly became a professional dancer with the company at age 17.  She has performed in numerous productions such as Balanchine's Rubies and Donizetti, Anthony Tutor's Continuo, and Leaves are Fading.  She has starred as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet choreographed by Yves de Bouteiller, 1001 Nights as Princess Budhur by Eldar Aliev, Swan Lake as the cygnets, and The Nutcracker as the snow queen, columbine doll, marzipan, and arabian, among many others.  Other various works have included pieces bu Viktor Plotnikov, Avichai Scher, and Mihailo Djuric.  Her teaching experiences include several studios in and around Massachusetts, Rhode Island and in San Diego.  She is very excited to train and influence her students in the world of ballet.

Samantha Curren has been dancing since age 7, she studied dance in her earlier years through Riverside Dance Center with our teacher Ms. Jo-Ann.  She studied  Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz, and Acrobatics.   Ms. Sam has continued her dance education at Seekonk Dance Center adding Pointe to her studies.  Ms. Sam now studies at Dean College as a Dance Major.  She has performed in many competitions and showcases receiving many Platinum and Top Score awards. Sam is 2016 "Ms. Photogenic".  Sam was an SDC Dance Team member from 2012-2017 and the RDC Dance Team from 2009-2011.  Ms. Sam is a 2016 graduate of Dighton Rehoboth HS.

Tayler Simmons started her dance career at her grandmothers dance school, Riverside Dance Center at the age of 2.  Throughout the years, she has enjoyed performing the role of the "Mad Hatter" in Alice in Wonderland & "Dorothy" in the Wizard of Oz. Her technical dance training includes ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, and hip hop.  She has received master instruction from Peter Sabasino, Sandi Duncan, Tommy Tiball, Dusty Button, Cartier Williams, Michael Susten, and more!  Ms. Tayler is currently a member of the SDC Elite Dance Team with whom she competes and has won at regional, state, and national competitions.  She was also a level 8 gymnast, studying gymnastics since the age of four. Currently,  Ms. Tayler is a Senior at Bristol Plymouth Technical High School.  Ms. Tayler would like to share her love for all types of dance and acrobatics with the students of SDC.

Briana Simmons  Ms. Briana has been dancing since the age of 2.5.  She started her training at her grandmother's studio Riverside Dance Center where she has studied ballet, tap, lyric, and jazz.  Briana has performed in many competitions and received numerous high scoring awards.  Briana has been fortunate to attend classes from many talented choreographers such as Teddy Tedholm and Benji Schwimmer, both from "So You Think You Can Dance" .  She has performed with the State Ballet of Rhode Island in their ballet Coppelia.  Briana is graduate of  Wheelock College where she majored in Social Work and Counseling Psychology.  She is currently attending Simmons College for her masters. 

Bianca Martins  MsBianca has been dancing since age four.  She started her training at Riverside Dance Center where she has studied ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, jazz and hip hop.  Bianca has performed in many competitions and received numerous high scoring awards.  Bianca has been fortunate to attend workshops where she took class from many talented choreographers such as Sonya Tayeh and Benji Schwimmer, both from "So You Think You Can Dance" .  She has performed with the State Ballet of Rhode Island in their ballet Coppelia.  We are most proud to have "Miss B" as a member of the S.D.C. faculty!! 

 Ms. Tayo has enjoyed the world of dance for over 30 years. Beginning at the age of five, Ms. Tayo took ballet, tap, and jazz classes. She was a competitive dancer between the ages of 18 and 21. In 2014, Ms. Tayo returned to competing as a dancer in the adult category. During that time, she won two high score awards and a judge's special award entitled, “Forever Dancing". Ms. Tayo was a graduate of the Dance Teacher Club of Boston allowing her to teacher ballet, tap and jazz to students aged four through adult. Her dance influences include Gene Kelly, Bob Fosse, Gregory Hines, and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Ms. Tayo has a Masters degree in Special Education Severe Profound and Administration and has been a Special Educator for the Lincoln School District for 17 years. She has been a Preschool Special Educator for 10 years.

Ms. Tayo is very excited  to return to teaching dance, sharing her knowledge and passion for dance!
